Dr Andrew Bennett

Dr Bennett graduated from Monash University Medical School with clinical training based at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. Anaesthesia training was in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the Alfred Hospital where he continues as a Visiting Medical Officer.

After fellowship training, Dr. Bennett worked for two years as a consultant anaesthetist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. During this time he also practiced in several London private hospitals with English and Australian trained surgeons.

In 1998, Dr. Bennett commenced as a specialist anaesthetist in Melbourne with the Melbourne Anaesthetic Group. He has a wide variety of subspecialty interest areas including anaesthesia for neurosurgery, orthopaedic hand and foot surgery, urology and plastic and reconstructive surgery. Between 2004 and 2006 he was the Chairman of the Cabrini Hospital Department of Anaesthesia and continues now in private practice at this and several other major private hospitals in inner Melbourne. Dr. Bennett also serves in the Royal Australian Navy Reserve as a specialist anaesthetist.    

Outside anaesthesia, Dr. Bennett pursues his interest in aviation, management of a small acreage on the Mornington Peninsula and a busy family life including three children and their disparate interests.
