Dr Joseph graduated in Medicine from Monash University in 1977 and completed his fellowship in anaesthesia in 1983. He joined the Melbourne Anaesthetic Group in 1984. Since then he has worked in public and private hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne with a special interest in Regional Anaesthesia specifically using Ultrasound guidance.

He has been involved in ANZCA College Committees and has chaired several International Committees (ISO) on standards for anaesthesia and respiratory equipment. He provides anaesthesia for orthopaedic, plastics, ophthalmology, general surgical and endoscopic procedures. He has been involved in voluntary medical care to patients in the South Pacific. Outside interests include travel, cryptic crosswords, walking, the arts and entertainment.
