Dr Hoy completed his undergraduate medical degree at Melbourne University, graduating in 1996.
He undertook his 5-year anaesthetic training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne (including a fellowship year in neurosurgical anaesthesia at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge). He gained fellowship into the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in 2005.
Dr Hoy was a Staff Anaesthetist at St Vincent’s Hospital before joining Melbourne Anaesthetic Group and moving into full-time private practice in 2007.
He anaesthetises for a wide-range of specialities including orthopaedics, neurosurgery & maxillo-facial surgery.
He has a particular interest in sitting position shoulder surgery and has spoken at a number of forums on this topic.
He is a busy father of three and a keen cyclist.
